Apparently, there’s one person Heath Ledger can quit.

Ledger and his fellow Brokeback Mountain Oscar nominee—and parent—Michelle Williams have ended their three-year relationship together, both People and Us Weekly report.

According to both reports, the split took place several weeks ago and was completely amicable. Reps for the couple have so far not commented on the possible separation.

The press-shy duo has spent the past few years domesticating in Brooklyn along with their nearly two-year-old daughter, Matilda Rose, who was born in October 2005.

The two first met back in 2004, while filming Ang Lee’s trophy magnet of a film and, per costars, merged their two trailers into one almost instantaneously.

“I remember being at rehearsal and seeing the two of them sort of like googly-eyed looking at each other,” costar Jake Gyllenhaal told Oprah Winfrey in the wake of the film’s release.

“There were sparks immediately,” fellow star Anne Hathaway said at the time.

The couple was rumored to have tied the knot in a below-the-radar civil union earlier this year, though legal documents for the alleged vow swap never surfaced, and reps for the couple, per usual, failed to comment on the speculation.

Both Ledger, 28, and Williams, who turns 27 next week, have been keeping plenty busy professionally over the past few months.

Williams, who rose to fame as Jen Lindley in Dawson’s Creek, has spent the past few months in London filming the drama thriller Incendiary with Ewan McGregor. Ledger, meanwhile, has traded one Gyllenhaal cohort for another, working opposite sister Maggie and Christian Bale in the next Batman installment, The Dark Knight. That production wrapped up in the Windy City last Monday.

After trailing the gaming race for two generations with “me tooNintendo Wii” consoles, Nintendo is taking a much different approach with its new system. The Nintendo Wii–formerly known as the Revolution–makes use of special motion-sensitive controllers that allow you to swing a sword, throw a punch, or drive a car with a flick of the wrist rather than with the push of a button. At about $250, the Wii also costs considerably less than the Microsoft Xbox 360 or the Sony PlayStation 3. Read on for CNET’s complete coverage of Nintendo’s interesting new system, including the latest news, videos, and product reviews.

LOS ANGELES - A remake of the classic slasher movie “Halloween” took a commanding early lead at the North American weekend box office, according to preliminary estimates issued on Saturday.

The movie, directed by rock star Rob Zombie, earned almost $11 million during its first day of release on Friday, said box office tracking firm Box Office Mojo.

Based on its strong start, the film should easily surpass observers’ forecasts of a $20 million haul for the four-day US Labor Day holiday weekend.

“Halloween,” the eighth film to be spun off from John Carpenter’s 1978 original, focuses on the grim childhood of its villain, Michael Myers.

The teen comedy “Superbad,” which had led the field for the last two weekends, slipped to No. 2 with $3.5 million for the day; the hit film has earned $80.3 million to date.

It was closely followed by another new release, “Balls of Fury,” with $3.4 million. A martial arts movie parody set in the world of underground ping-pong, “Balls” got a head start on its fellow rookies by opening on Wednesday; its total since then stands at $6.4 million.

Rounding out the top five were two former champs, the action-thriller “The Bourne Ultimatum” with $2.6 million, and the comedy “Rush Hour 3″ with $2.1 million.

The top 10 contained only one other new release — the Kevin Bacon vigilante thriller “Death Sentence.” It was dead on arrival at No. 8 with just $1.4 million.

“Halloween” was produced by New York producers Bob and Harvey Weinstein’s Dimension Films, and released by closely held Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios Inc.

“Superbad” was released by Columbia Pictures, a unit of Sony Corp.. “Balls of Fury” was released by Rogue Pictures, the genre division of NBC Universal’s Focus Features. “The Bourne Ultimatum” was released by NBC Universal’s Universal Pictures. “Rush Hour 3″ was released by New Line Cinema, a unit of Time Warner Inc. “Death Sentence” was released by 20th Century Fox, a unit of News Corp.

LOS ANGELES - Troubled pop star Britney Spears has released her first new song in years on the Web, a single called “Gimme More” that is expected to hit radio airwaves as early as next week.

The song was officially released late on Thursday on the Web site of New York radio station Z100, and by Friday it could be heard on YouTube.

Music industry magazine Billboard said the single is expected to get its first radio play next week, and several other media reports said Spears could have a new album out in early November.

A spokeswoman for Jive Records, Spears’ label, was not immediately available for comment.

Spears, 25, is attempting to resurrect her flagging career, and the new single could be the first salvo in a media blitz. Rumors have been rampant that she will perform at the MTV Video Music Awards in Las Vegas on September 9, and for months she has been saying she is at work on a new album.

The singer has become a major subject for tabloid coverage for public behavior that has included being photographed with no underwear under her miniskirts, shaving her head bald, attacking paparazzi with an umbrella and performing in local nightclubs where she was accused of lip-syncing songs.

Earlier this year, she checked into a rehabilitation facility in Malibu, California, and more recently her divorce from second husband Kevin Federline was finalized. The pair remain embroiled in a bitter custody battle over their two sons.

Back in the early 2000s, Spears was a top-selling artist. Her records had sold more than 70 million units, and in 2002 she was ranked as the most powerful celebrity in the world by Forbes magazine.

Spears’ first album was 1999 CD “…Baby One More Time,” which featured hit songs like “Sometimes.” Her most recent album of original music was 2003’s “In the Zone.”

1 vs 100Can you go head to head against a hundred people? This is the question, “1 vs.100″ poses, ABS-CBN newest, and most expensive game show to date!

“Ang galing ng isa ay kayang tapatan ng isang daang tao,” says Alou Almaden, ABS-CBN Business Unit Head. “It’s a modern day version of David versus Goliath, where the studio player brings home the cash prize, of the mob members split it.”

“1 vs. 100″ is franchised from the Dutch production company Endemol, who gave us “Deal or No Deal”, “Fame Academy” and “Big Brother”, and the Philippines is the second Asian country to have its local version.

In this game, a studio player is faced with a mob of 100 people, whom he or she has to outwit by answering various questions, each with a corresponding cash value. A mob member who answers incorrectly gets eliminated, and every mistake increases the pot money. However, if the studio player makes a mistake, the remaining mob members get to split the cash prize, and play in the next game. The remaining mob members will then be called “The Unbeatables”, and one of them will be selected as the next studio player.

But the mob members don’t exactly play the enemy all the time, as the studio player can ask for help from them thrice, when in doubt of an answer. At the end of each round, the lucky studio contestant may opt to bring home the pot money, or challenge the mob for the P2 million peso jackpot!

All 101 players will try their luck in a single studio at ABS-CBN, together with imported equipment from Japan, China, Germany and the US, making it the most expensive game show set ever produced by ABS-CBN! So, get to see this exciting game show firsthand this Saturday, August 25, after John en Shirley only here on your Kapamilya, ABS-CBN!

Meryll Soriano is overwhelmed by the birth of her son Elijah last Monday, August 27. The actress described her reaction upon seeing Elijah for the first time.

“Narinig ko na yung uha. Nakita ko na siya, tarantang-taranta na ako kasi lumabas na tapos dinala siya sa akin. Hindi ko alam kung hahawakan ko ba, hindi ko alam ang gagawin. Tapos totoo nga ang sinasabi nila na lahat ng pagod mo mawawala, instant,” the new mom narrated.

It was actually a double blessing for Meryll because aside from having Elijah, she has also reconciled with her parents, specifically her mom Bec-Bec Soriano, sister of Diamond Star Marciel Soriano. Meryll and her mother had a gap after the actress married Bernard Palanca, but the marriage only lasted for four months.

In a taped interview with Entertainment Live yesterday, September 1, Meryll apologized to her mom. In tear, she said, “Humingi ako ng tawad… Humingi ako ng tawad, sinabi ko na nagkamali talaga ako. Sorry dahil matigas ang ulo ko. Sorry dahil hindi ako nakinig. Sorry po dahil sinunod ko po kung ano ‘yong gusto ko.”

However, Meryll was firm when she said that she did not have any regret for being a disobedient daughter.

Meryll was also thankful to all the people who guided her to overcome the trials in her life.

“Salamat, Mama, dahil lahat ng ito hindi ko malalampasan kung hindi niya ako mahal. Salamat dahil tinanggap niya ako ulit, salamat sa pagpapatawad. Salamat dahil siya ‘yong nanay ko. Kung ano ‘yong ibinigay ng Mama ko para sa akin, at ngayon ko masasabi na hindi ko kaya kung wala siya,” said Meryll.

Aside from her mom, Meryll also showed her appreciation to her stepfather.

Of course, she also said thanks to her real father, Willie Revillame. “At sa tatay ko din, nagpapasalamat ako kasi nakikita ko uli iyong pagmamahal niya sa akin na matagal ko nang hinintay.”

Meryll also described her current relationship with her estranged husband Bernard. She said that although she has already decided to raise Baby Elijah alone, she still has to be at least friends with his father.

Meryll described her life right now as something that is very positive. She explained that now it is all for Baby Elijah: “Lahat ng mga dreams ko, pangarap ko, iba na, hindi lang para sa akin.” - Philippine Entertainment Portal

Jennylyn Mercado goes back to work as the leading lady of no less than Sen. Bong Revilla in the new film Resiklo, an official entry to the 2007 Metro Manila Film Festival. This is after Jennylyn’s bout with depression after being caught in the middle of a rift between GMA-7 and her manager Becky Aguila as a result of Angel Locsin’s controversial transfer to ABS-CBN.

But in Resiklo, expect to see a sexier Jennylyn when the film hits theaters.

“Siyempre masaya,” replied Jennylyn when asked about working with Bong in an interview with Startalk. “It’s an honor to be paired with Mr. Bong Revilla. Masaya dahil ngayon ka-partner ko na siyempre ang hari ng pelikula.”

Meanwhile, the first StarStruck Ultimate Female Survivor also clarified rumors that she is running out of funds. She said that she has financial problems and that she also maintains a savings account.

Jennylyn also commented about her alleged ouster from a movie project that was supposed to pair her with F4 member Ken Zhu. But the role eventually went to Iza Calzado.

“Hindi ko po alam ‘yon, e,” Jennylyn said, although she admitted that the script of the movie was already given to her.

Jennylyn also answered the issue about the lead role in GMA-7’s new afternoon soap opera Pasan Ko ang Daigdig. It was earlier reported that she was supposed to do the Sharon Cuneta role, but it instead went to StarStruck batch mate Yasmien Kurdi. Jennylyn explained that the role wasn’t really for her and as she has said earlier, it was up to GMA-7 to give out her projects. Philippine Entertainment Portal
